Bah. I dislike it, intensely. It’s unnecessary, expensive, annoying, senseless and “saves” nothing. I say do away with it!

Yeah, but how do you REALLY feel about Dayllight Savings Time, Rick?
Just a question from your blurry-eyed buddy who actually Sprang Forward.
Oh, I reset my clocks, but I also wrote – last week – a letter to each of my state legislators and the Governor expressing my view that the need for clock changing twice a year is past and urging we do away with DST.
Unless everyone adjusts their own routines to fit in with the varying hours of daylight, DST does save some energy – there’s a lot of debate about how much. In WWII, for example, the UK put all the clocks forward one hour and added another hour – “British Double Summer Time” was the term. When DST was first introduced nearly all time-dependent devices were mechanical. It was a matter of changing a few public clocks and reminding everyone to adjust their routines accordingly. Now that so many things are automatically operated and interconnected in how they work it’s much more difficult. All the same, if a way can be found to get the advantages without the disadvantages of DST, I’d be all for it.
I just don’t see the advantages, sorry, Roger.
Right on, brother. To the barricades! Power to the people! It is unneeded and I don’t like it, either.
And neither did Bill Crider!
I only know one person who defends it.
I don’t know much about the reasons behind Daylight Saving Time, but it sure messes me up, two times a year. So I would be happy if they would do away with it. But I hold out no hope for that.
Yes, it was one of Bill’s major hobbyhorses he rode every year, and rightfully so. I think there is an argument to be made for going with DST all year rather than EST (for us), which is now only 4 months anyway. It feels like we just pushed the clocks back and here we are pushing them ahead again. Pointless. My sister in Arizona’s husband has to get up early to sync with the stock market in New York, and since Arizona doesn’t change the clocks, he is up even earlier for months of the year
Bill Crider hated DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME, too. I’m merely annoyed with it. And, as you say, it seems to do no good. America is not an agrarian society any more.
and now it seems they want to make it permanent, instead of staying with Standard Time. That’ll throw things out of wack with the rest of the world…
