In the Labyrinth of Drakes, A Memoir by Lady Trent by Marie Brennan, Tor Books, April 2016
This is the fourth book in the series and takes the overall story in a slightly new direction, as Lady Trent mounts an expedition to the inhospitable deserts of Akhia. Her discoveries there are the stuff of legend, catapulting her from scholarly obscurity to worldwide fame. The details of her personal life (not shocking to today’s reader, certainly) during that time are hardly less private, having provided fodder for gossips in several countries. As is so often the case in the career of this illustrious woman, the public story is far from complete.”
– publishers’ summary
In this, the fourth volume of her memoirs, Lady Trent relates how she acquired her position with the Royal Scirling Army; how foreign saboteurs imperiled both her work and her well-being; and how her determined pursuit of knowledge took her into the deepest reaches of the Labyrinth of Drakes, where the chance action of a dragon set the stage for her greatest achievement yet. This is another good one in a pleasing series.

I am glad you reminded me about this series. I did look for her books at the book sale, with no luck. I will have to check my local bookstore.
You might try your library, Tracy, our library has them all. They are also available as ebooks.
Richard, the five titles in the Lady Trent Memoirs series have aroused my curiosity and I’m tempted to order the first online. I haven’t come across the author in new bookstores.
These are older books, Prashant, so a used book store, or an ebook would be a better bet.
Thank goodness this is not my taste for once. I have too many books lined up already.
I know these aren’t your cuppa, Jeff.
I love the covers on these books. I guess I’ll have to give them a try. Nice review!
Thanks, George. I’m not sure the stories are up your alley, but your tastes are eclectic, so who knows.
