It’s Hot!

hot weatherEnough already!

It’s been in the 90s and closing in on triple digits for days…no, weeks. This is the hottest, driest Summer on record here in what ought to be cool, rainy Portland, OR.

As Gollum might say, “We hates it.”

As an old teacher of mine would say, “It builds character.” That old teacher is long dead and, I presume, roasting in Hell, where she is building character.

Meanwhile, I bow to the great god Air Conditioning.

    • Us too, Jerry. We’ve had it set to 77 and it’s running most of every 24 hours. Thank goodness for iced tea and books (my wife adds ice cream to that, but I can’t have any).

  2. I’m sure you do. This has been the hottest, and close to the driest, Summer we’ve had in the Kansas City area in the twenty years I’ve lived here. It has been miserable. We truly had no spring. It went from chilly, will winter ever end, temps to “hey, its Spring”, and then you blinked and Spring was just a mirage and it was high 90’s and humidity, followed by 100’s and humidity. Last week we had Spring-like weather for the first time, which makes the return to high 90’s quite a bummer. I’m really hoping for an early Autumn as consolation.

When George is complaining about 90s in Western New York, you know it’s bad. We’re in the middle of another heat wave in NYC, but this year it is truly the humidity rather than the heat, Hell, we’ve had years where we’ve been over 100 for several days in a row, with plenty of upper 90s. This year is mostly upper 80s to low 90s at worst, but the stifling humidity is horrible. I pity anyone who has to work outside in this. We spent the last two days indoors in the air conditioning too.

    And I believe it’s Gollum.

  5. Evan Lewis says:

Two things suck more than hot weather, but not by much. DEATH and DISEASE.

  6. Western NY endured one of the hottest Julys on record. August has started out hot, too. We’re about 10 degrees hotter than Normal. We’re stuck in this hot and humid weather pattern. I hate it.
