Three things came in, I’m really excited about all of them.
Concrete Angel by Patricia Abbott [Polis Books 2015 trade paper]
Blogger and short story writer extrodinaire Patricia Abbott’s first novel has just been published, and my copy came yesterday. I’m halfway into a long SF novel (see below) but as soon as I finish the last page of that I’ll start reading this one. Oh boy, oh boy!
Nemesis Games by James S.A. Corey (Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck) [Orbit 2015 hardcover]
I said in the post a couple of days ago that this new book in the The Expanse series “is due in a couple of weeks”. Nope. It came yesterday. In 2012 I read the first in the series, Leviathan Wakes and liked it a lot. I’m rereading it now to get up to speed on the series: Leviathan Wakes, Caliban’s War, Abbadon’s Gate, The Butcher of Anderson Station (novella), Cibola Burn, Gods of Risk (novella) and this new one, Nemesis Games.
Resorting to Murder edited by Martin Edwards [British Library 2015 trade paper]
A collection of classic British short stories following the theme of crime in resorts and vacation spots. Should be a lot of fun.
Richard, both Patti and Martin’s books are on my reading list. Here I’ll also include Martin’s “The Golden Age of Murder.”
Prashant, that’s yet another one I want to read, but I’m hoping the library will get it. I put in a request.
Oh, boy, oh, boy is right. Thanks so much!
Patti, I’m eager to get to it, but I hate to stop in the middle of a book.
What Rick said. I got Patti’s book yesterday too and plan to get it autographed when we meet for dinner two weeks from this moment. I hope to read it too!
I also got Murray Leinster’s Planets of Adventure.
Jeff, I think you’ll enjoy the Leinster.
After a couple weeks of reading 600+ page books, I decided to read a few shorter books. I just finished SLOW BULLETS by Alastair Reynolds. But it will be back to Big Books next week. I have C. J. Sansom’s LAMENTATION (#6 in the Shardlake series).
I like the Shardlake series too.
I have GOT to get caught up with the Expanse series. It’s not too bad though, I only have Cibola Burn and this one to be caught up. Such an enjoyable series of books. I picked up the new Lee/Miller book this week and am trying to get caught up on that end too.
